Parametric CAD or a mesh?

A parametric CAD model keeps its dimensions and the steps that built it, so you can change a hole size or a wall thickness and the part rebuilds. It exports to STEP for machining or to other CAD software. A mesh (STL, OBJ, GLB) is a surface of triangles: fine to view or to 3D print, but it has no dimensions to edit. SKY-001 is pitched as the parametric kind, producing build steps for CAD and BIM software. [skyfall.ai]

Tool by tool

Zoo Design Studio (Zookeeper) (parametric CAD). The closest match to the SKY-001 pitch: describe a part, get an editable CAD model. [zoo.dev, Zoo pricing]
Adam (parametric CAD). Aimed at engineers who already work in a commercial CAD package. [adam.new]
CADAM (parametric CAD). Runs OpenSCAD in the browser, so what it can model is bounded by OpenSCAD. [CADAM repo]
Backflip (parametric CAD). Image-to-CAD for parts that already exist, not design from a description. [backflip.ai, Backflip pricing]
Meshy (mesh). A mesh has no dimensions or feature history, so it is hard to edit precisely in CAD. [Meshy pricing]
Text2CAD (parametric CAD). A NeurIPS 2024 paper. Like SKY-001, it outputs a construction sequence, but it is a research model, not a product. [Text2CAD repo]

Which one fits

You want to type a description and get an editable part: Zoo Design Studio, or CADAM if you prefer open source.
You already work in SOLIDWORKS, Fusion, Onshape or another commercial CAD package: Adam works inside it.
You have a physical part, a photo or an old drawing: Backflip rebuilds it as CAD.
You only need a 3D shape to look at or print: Meshy is quicker, but the result is a mesh.
You want to study the research behind text-to-CAD: Text2CAD has public code and weights.
